Dry to Touch: That stage of drying of a film of finishing material when it has solidified sufficiently that it can be touched lightly without any of the finishing material adhering to the fingers. Cupping: A concave or dished appearance of individual strips with the edges raised above the center. The opposite of crowning.

Sealer: Any finishing material that is applied with the primary purpose of stopping the absorption of succeeding coats.
